Chapter Overview:

There is a popular saying that if you have your health, you have everything. This statement implies that people who are healthy have the capacity to thrive and to achieve their desired goals. Although there is no universally accepted definition of organizational health (OH), a simplified way to conceptualize OH is to draw an analogy to human health. That is, a healthy organization will have the necessary foundation to similarly thrive and achieve its desired goals.

Building and maintaining a healthy autism service provider organization facilitates the attainment and maintenance of performance objectives (both clinical and fiscal) in a dynamic, service delivery environment. Identifying the components of OH and strategies for improvement therefore should help autism service provider organizations to achieve superior clinical outcomes while meeting or exceeding their financial objectives.
