Abstract: 

This session is an interactive discussion with session attendees that is focused on addressing diversity within the autism provider organization to create a diverse culture that supports both employees and clients. The presenters will share their personal experiences related to diversity from the perspective of a business owner of a small organization and as the clinical director from a large organization. The session will delve into various aspects of diversity, review applicable BACB® Professional and Ethical Compliance Code elements, and focus on supporting attendees to take action within their organization.

Director of Clinical Operations, Bayada Kristen Koba-Burdt, BCBA

Kristen Koba-Burdt, BCBA, LBA, serves as the Director of Clinical Operations for BAYADA’s Behavioral Health Division. She is fortunate to call Hawaiʻi home, one of the most diverse states in the nation. Whether in an official capacity or of her own volition, Kristen has tirelessly dedicated numerous hours to advocating and advancing the field of applied behavior analysis. She is devoted to supporting underserved communities access ABA, creating career opportunities for a diverse workforce, and continuing to learn and grow to always improve equity and inclusion in all facets of her work.

Naa Garrido, BCBA

Naa is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and a state licensed Behavior Specialist who graduated with a BS in Health Education from East Carolina University and with an MS in Behavior Analysis from St. Joseph’s University. Mrs. Garrido specializes in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and has extensive experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder and challenging behaviors. She has provided years of consultation services to several families, public school districts, and private schools. Mrs. Garrido entered into the behavioral services field because of her love and passion for helping children and their families. She employs the ABA method in pursuit of using the best practices to transform behaviors and elevate expectations for your child’s future.
